# Corfu in June: Honest Thoughts
June is probably the sweet spot for Corfu, and I don’t say that about many places. You’re catching the island just before it tips into the full summer madness of July and August, and that difference is genuinely significant.
The weather sits around 26 degrees, which sounds modest on paper but feels exactly right in practice. You’re warm enough to spend entire days on the beach without questioning your life choices, but you’re not being flattened by the kind of heat that makes walking uphill at 2pm feel like a punishment. The 10mm of rainfall for the whole month means you might get one slightly overcast afternoon, probably nothing more. Evenings are genuinely pleasant rather than still-sweating-at-midnight pleasant.
Crowds are building but haven’t peaked. The beaches in the north, places like Sidari and Roda, will feel busy on weekends. Paleokastritsa on the west coast gets coach parties regardless of month, so go early or accept the chaos. The old town of Corfu itself, which is genuinely beautiful and worth your time, becomes much more walkable in June than in August when the cruise ships disgorge thousands of people into those narrow streets simultaneously.
Everything is open. That’s worth stating plainly because shoulder months elsewhere mean half the restaurants have a handwritten closed sign in the window. In June you have full choice across the island, boat trips are running properly, and the beach tavernas are staffed and ready rather than stretched thin.
Who is June actually for? Couples, solo travellers, anyone who prioritises actually enjoying themselves over getting the cheapest possible deal. Families with school-age children often can’t make it work, which is partly why the crowds are still manageable. If you can swing it timing-wise, this is your month.
**One practical tip:** Hire a car for at least two or three days. The bus network covers the main routes adequately but Corfu’s best beaches require scrambling down tracks that public transport simply doesn’t reach. The interior villages alone justify the rental cost.
