Visiting Kaş in August

Visiting Kaş in August

Weather in August: Average high 32.4°C, 6.2mm rainfall.

# Kaş in August: Beautiful, Busy, and Honestly Pretty Sweaty

Let me be straight with you: August in Kaş is hot. We’re talking 32 degrees most days, often creeping higher when the sun bounces off those limestone streets around midday. You will sweat. Your ice cream will lose the battle. The cats look exhausted. This is the reality.

That said, Kaş in August is genuinely wonderful if you know what you’re walking into.

The town is at its absolute busiest right now. Turkish families on summer holiday, European divers, yacht crowds spilling into the harbour bars – the usually sleepy old quarter has real energy to it. Every restaurant is open, every boat trip is running, the rooftop bars are buzzing until late. If you wanted the full, animated version of Kaş rather than the off-season ghost town, this is it. The atmosphere around the harbour at night, with the Lycian tombs lit up on the hillside, is genuinely hard to beat.

Rain is essentially irrelevant – 6mm across the whole month means you’ll almost certainly see none of it. Pack sunscreen instead of an umbrella.

The water is the saving grace here. The sea sits around 28 degrees, crystal clear, and you will spend large portions of your day in it. That’s not a complaint. The coves around town, particularly towards Kaputaş if you hire a scooter, are strikingly beautiful. Diving and snorkelling conditions are excellent.

Who should come in August? People who like having options, lively evenings, and don’t mind crowds at the good spots. Solo travellers will find it easy to meet people. Couples after a quiet escape might prefer late September when prices drop and the town exhales.

Who might struggle? Families with small children who nap in the afternoon will find the heat genuinely draining. Budget travellers will notice accommodation prices are at their peak.

**Practical tip:** Do absolutely everything before noon. Boat trips, old town wandering, the amphitheatre – get it done early. By 1pm, the only sensible plan is somewhere with shade and cold water nearby.
