Visiting Brač in August

Weather in August: Average high 24.5°C, 5mm rainfall.

# Brač in August: The Real Picture

Let me be straight with you — August on Brač is intense. The island is absolutely heaving with visitors, prices are at their peak, and the midday sun is genuinely punishing. Knowing that going in makes the whole thing much more enjoyable.

The weather is reliably spectacular. That 24.5°C average is slightly misleading because it represents the full day, including cooler evenings. Midday temperatures regularly hit 32-35°C in direct sun, and the famous Bol beaches mean you’re sitting on white limestone that reflects heat back at you like a giant mirror. The 5mm of monthly rainfall is basically nothing — you might get one brief dramatic storm that clears within an hour and leaves the air smelling incredible. Pack for pure sunshine and don’t stress about rain.

Bol itself, home to the famous Zlatni Rat beach, is genuinely crowded. Not unpleasantly crowded if you’re prepared for it, but there will be people. Zlatni Rat still earns its reputation — the shifting pebble spit surrounded by turquoise water is legitimately beautiful — but arrive before 9am if you want breathing room. The villages inland, like Škrip and Nerežišća, remain surprisingly quiet and reward anyone willing to rent a scooter for a day.

Everything is open in August. Every restaurant, bar, watersports rental, ferry connection. This is Brač at full operational capacity, which means you’ll find cold beer within arm’s reach of almost any beach.

**Is it worth it?** For families, couples who like a buzzy atmosphere, and anyone whose only holiday window is August — absolutely yes. For introverts or people wanting solitude, honestly consider late September instead. The island is genuinely beautiful regardless, the water is warmest, and the energy can be infectious rather than exhausting if you lean into it.

**One practical tip:** Book the Supetar ferry from Split in advance if you’re taking a car. The queues in August are no joke, and missing your slot will eat your entire afternoon.
