Early June can feel surprisingly calm. The Spanish school holidays haven’t kicked in yet, the German and French families are still at home, and you can actually walk through the old town without being funnelled through a corridor of selfie sticks. The castle, the narrow whitewashed streets, the views over the Mediterranean – you get to experience all of that without feeling like you’re on a conveyor belt. It genuinely feels like a place rather than a set.

Late June is a different story. Spanish domestic tourism starts building hard, and by the final week it’s noticeably busier. Not August-levels of chaos, but the beach gets populated, restaurants fill up earlier, and parking becomes the kind of thing you need to actually think about.

Weather-wise, you’re generally looking at warm, pleasant conditions – typically high 20s Celsius, decent sunshine, and the sea starting to become properly swimmable rather than just brave-face swimmable. Rainfall is usually low, though the occasional storm rolls through without much warning. Nothing that should put you off.

Everything is open in June. Restaurants, boat trips, the castle, the beaches – it’s all running. You’re not going to arrive and find half the town shuttered like you might in February.

Who is this month really for? Honestly, couples and anyone who wants the atmosphere without the assault. Families with young children will find it perfectly manageable in early June especially.

**One practical tip:** park outside the old town immediately and walk in. Don’t attempt to drive into the historic part. You’ll waste forty minutes discovering what everyone discovers the hard way – those streets weren’t built with a Renault in mind. Park early, walk everything, and your blood pressure will thank you.

Worth visiting in June? Yes. Genuinely yes.
