Or you might get overcast skies, a proper downpour, and winds that make the seafront feel bleak. Rainfall is hit or miss – some Decembers are dry and lovely, others are properly wet. **Is it worth visiting?** For the right person, honestly yes. If you want solitude, cheap accommodation prices (significantly cheaper than peak season), beautiful empty beaches for walking, and a genuinely peaceful escape without another tourist in sight, December works. Retired couples, remote workers, anyone burned out and wanting quiet – this could suit you well. If you’re expecting lively evenings, restaurant choices, beach activities, or reliable warmth, you’ll be miserable.

Families with kids wanting the full beach holiday experience should absolutely wait until at least May.

**One practical tip:** Don’t rely solely on Protaras itself for things to do. Rent a car and plan day trips to Nicosia or the Troodos Mountains. With the tourist layer stripped away, Cyprus reveals something more authentic – and having wheels means December actually becomes workable rather than claustrophobic.
