Look, April in Benidorm is genuinely a bit of a lottery, and anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something.

The weather sits in that frustrating middle ground. Temperatures typically hover between 14°C at night and around 21°C during the day, which sounds pleasant enough until a sea breeze kicks in and you’re suddenly regretting leaving your jacket at the apartment. Sunshine is entirely possible — even probable — but so is a week of grey skies and proper rain. The Mediterranean can be moody in spring, and Benidorm catches its fair share of that unpredictability. Don’t book expecting wall-to-wall sun, because you might not get it.

What you will get is a town that’s actually breathing again after the quieter winter months. April sits in that shoulder season sweet spot where things are genuinely open — the main bars, restaurants, and attractions are running — but the absolute chaos of July and August is still months away. The beaches are walkable without it feeling like an endurance sport. You can get a table at a restaurant without queuing. The old town actually has some charm when you’re not fighting through crowds to find it.

The British expat and tourist contingent is already very much present, particularly around the English pub strips, so if you were hoping for a more authentically Spanish experience, that’s not really Benidorm’s offer at any time of year. Lean into what it is rather than fighting it.

April genuinely suits older travellers, couples, and anyone who prioritises a relaxed pace over guaranteed beach weather. If you’re coming with young kids banking on pool days every day, the temperature might disappoint. If you want cheap flights, quieter conditions, and a functioning resort without peak-season prices and mayhem, it works pretty well.

**Practical tip:** Pack actual layers, including something waterproof. A light rain jacket takes up almost no space and will save your holiday if you hit a grey week. People who ignore this advice spend day three buying overpriced ponchos on the promenade.
