So you’re thinking about Belek in December. Fair enough – the prices are genuinely tempting and the idea of escaping a grey northern winter has obvious appeal. Here’s what you’re actually walking into.

The weather is the big question mark. Belek in December sits in that awkward Mediterranean zone where it *could* be pleasant – mild, dry days around 14-16°C – or it could be genuinely miserable with heavy rain rolling in off the sea for days at a stretch. December rainfall is real and unpredictable here. You might get a glorious week of cool sunshine perfect for walking and sightseeing. You might get a week of solid drizzle. Nobody can honestly tell you which one you’ll get, and anyone who promises sunshine is selling something.

The beach is essentially off the table. The water is cold, the resort infrastructure goes into a kind of hibernation, and those enormous all-inclusive hotels either close completely or operate on skeleton mode with half the restaurants and facilities shut down. The surrounding Antalya region opens up in a way it simply doesn’t in summer. Old Town Antalya is actually liveable and charming rather than overwhelmingly packed.

**Is it worth it?** Honestly, yes – but only for a specific type of person. If you’re a golfer, Belek’s famous courses are open and considerably cheaper than peak season, and the temperatures are actually better for playing than summer’s punishing heat. If you’re an archaeology enthusiast or just someone who likes exploring without crowds and doesn’t demand beach weather, you’ll probably enjoy it. If you need a proper beach holiday with sunshine guarantees, look elsewhere or push to late April.

**Practical tip:** Book accommodation in Antalya city itself rather than the resort strip. More places stay open, you’ll have actual restaurants and bars nearby, and it makes a better base for day trips regardless of weather.
