Visiting Marrakech in November
Visiting Marrakech in November
# Marrakech in November: Worth It?
November is quietly one of the better times to visit Marrakech, and not enough people know it.
The summer crowds have thinned out considerably by this point. The Europeans who flood the medina in peak spring season have mostly gone home, and the Christmas rush hasn’t started yet. You can actually walk through Djemaa el-Fna without feeling like you’re fighting your way through a festival queue, which makes a genuine difference to how much you enjoy the place. Restaurants are easier to book, riads have more availability, and prices tend to reflect the lower demand.
Weather-wise, November sits in an interesting middle ground. Marrakech can genuinely surprise you this month. Days are typically warm and pleasant, often hitting the low-to-mid twenties Celsius, which is comfortable for walking around the souks or exploring the Majorelle Garden without sweating through your clothes. Evenings cool down noticeably though, sometimes dropping to single figures, so the romantic rooftop dinner idea requires a jacket you might not have packed. Rain is possible but not dominant – you might get a couple of grey days, you might not. It’s not monsoon territory, but don’t assume sunshine is guaranteed.
Everything is open. Unlike some destinations that go into a kind of hibernation outside summer, Marrakech operates year-round. The museums, gardens, palaces, hammams, and food scene all function normally. The souks are arguably more enjoyable when traders aren’t completely overwhelmed with tourists.
Who is this trip genuinely for? Anyone who wants the atmosphere of Marrakech without the sensory overload that peaks bring. Couples, solo travellers, people who actually want to browse rather than battle. It’s not the right month if you’re planning to lounge by a pool all day – the sun isn’t reliable enough for that specific agenda.
**One practical tip:** Pack serious layers. The temperature swing between afternoon and late evening is bigger than most people expect, and being cold in a medina at night is a miserable experience that ruins what should be a great evening.
