# Çeşme in June: The Sweet Spot Before the Madness
If you’re thinking about Çeşme in June, here’s the honest take: it’s probably the best month to go, and most people don’t realize it yet.
The weather sits around 27 degrees, which sounds perfect on paper and actually feels perfect in practice. It’s warm enough to swim comfortably, the Aegean has shaken off its spring chill, and you’re not being slowly cooked alive the way you will be in August. That 10mm of rain is basically nothing — maybe one grey afternoon where you drink tea and eat too much börek. Don’t lose sleep over it.
Crowds are genuinely manageable in early June. The Turkish school holidays haven’t started, the European charter crowd hasn’t fully arrived, and the İzmir weekend warriors are still showing some restraint. By late June that changes noticeably, especially on weekends, so if you can go in the first two weeks, do that. The famous Alaçatı streets — those gorgeous stone lanes with the bougainvillea — are actually walkable without having a stranger’s elbow in your face.
Everything worth visiting is open. Restaurants are running full menus, the windsurfing schools at Alaçatı are operating (the meltemi winds are building nicely), boat trips are running, and you’re not fighting for a sunbed at Altınkum or Ilıca beach. Prices are also noticeably lower than July and August, which matters because Çeşme isn’t cheap.
Who is June perfect for? Couples, anyone who hates crowds on principle, foodies who want to actually get a table at the good meyhanes, and anyone doing a combination of beach relaxation and exploring the surrounding villages. Families with school-age kids will likely be pushed to later months by logistics, but if you have flexibility, June hands down.
**One practical tip:** Book accommodation before you go, even in June. Çeşme has fewer good beds than you’d expect for its reputation, and the decent places fill up faster than the month’s reputation suggests they should.
Go in June. You’ll feel smug about it afterward.
