# Alanya in June: What It’s Actually Like

June is genuinely one of the better months to visit Alanya, and I say that as someone who’s also been there in August when it feels like walking around inside someone’s mouth.

The temperature sitting around 27-28°C is legitimately pleasant rather than punishing. You’ll get hot on the beach, obviously, but you can still walk around the old town, climb up to the castle, and explore the harbour without feeling like you’re slowly dissolving. Evenings are warm enough for dinner outside without needing anything extra. The sea temperature is comfortable by mid-June, typically around 24-25°C, so swimming actually feels refreshing rather than just wet.

That 25mm of rainfall sounds alarming but don’t panic. It’s not distributed evenly across the month. You’ll likely get a few brief, dramatic storms, probably early in the month, that clear up quickly. It’s nothing like the grey drizzle you might imagine. Most days are completely clear.

Crowds are noticeably lighter than July and August, which matters more than people realise. Hotels and restaurants are open and fully operational, tours are running, boat trips are going out daily, but you’re not fighting through tour groups on Cleopatra Beach or waiting an hour for a sunbed. Prices reflect this too. You’ll pay less for accommodation and get more attention from restaurant staff.

This makes June particularly good for couples, older travellers, and anyone who wants the full Alanya experience without the chaos. Families with school-age kids obviously struggle to make this work, which is part of why it’s quieter.

What’s worth doing in June specifically: the Red Tower and castle are much more enjoyable when it’s not 38°C, Dim Cave stays cool regardless, and the weekly market in town is actually pleasant to browse.

**Practical tip:** Book your boat trip for early morning rather than afternoon. By June the afternoon sun on open water is stronger than you’d expect, and the morning light around the caves is genuinely beautiful rather than just functional.

Worth visiting in June? Honestly, yes. Probably the smartest month to go.
