# Antibes in November: The Honest Truth

November in Antibes is genuinely pleasant if you go in with the right expectations, and completely wrong for you if you don’t.

The weather sits around 15.5°C, which sounds mild until you factor in that 219mm of rainfall figure. That’s a serious amount of water, and the Mediterranean has a habit of delivering it dramatically rather than spread politely across the month. You’ll get bright, crisp days where the Alpes-Maritimes look absurdly beautiful behind the old town, followed by two days where the sky turns grey-green and rain hammers the ramparts sideways. Pack accordingly and don’t build your trip around beach time, because you won’t be having any.

The crowds are essentially gone. The seafront restaurants, the market stalls in Cours Masséna, the narrow streets of the old quarter – you can actually move through them without negotiating tourist traffic. Locals reclaim the place in November and it shows. Boulangeries aren’t performing for Instagram, the Wednesday and Saturday markets are genuinely for people who need vegetables, and you can linger over lunch without feeling rushed by a queue forming behind you.

What’s open is honestly fine for a November. The covered market runs year-round, Picasso Museum is open, most of the better restaurants stay trading, and the old town itself doesn’t close. What disappears is the beach infrastructure, most water-based activities, and anything that was always really just there to extract money from summer visitors.

Is it worth going? For certain people, absolutely yes. If you want to understand what the Côte d’Azur actually is rather than what it performs to be in July, November delivers that. Walkers, food-focused travellers, people who want to use it as a base for day trips to Nice or the Loup valley – it works well. If your vision involves sunshine, aperitifs outside in a light dress, and turquoise water, you’re visiting the wrong month.

**Practical tip:** Book accommodation mid-week. Several smaller places close entirely on weekends in November when demand doesn’t justify staying open.
