Unless you specifically love crowded beach holidays and can tolerate the heat, summer is honestly the season to reconsider.
Autumn bounces back beautifully in September and October, sharing many of spring’s advantages. The sea remains warm enough for swimming from the previous summer’s heat, temperatures settle into that comfortable range again, and the summer crowds have thinned considerably. Local life resumes its natural rhythm as Turkish families return to work and school, giving the city an authentic energy that summer somewhat dilutes. Prices drop noticeably from their August peak.
Winter brings mild but rainy conditions rather than anything severe. Izmir rarely gets cold enough to feel harsh, but grey skies and occasional downpours between November and March limit outdoor enjoyment significantly.
