# Gran Canaria in November: The Honest Version

November is genuinely one of those months where Gran Canaria plays it both ways, and whether that works for you depends entirely on what you’re after.

The weather sits in an awkward middle ground. You’re looking at somewhere around 22-24°C most days, which sounds lovely on paper, but November is actually one of the wetter months on the island. It won’t necessarily rain every day, but when it does rain here, it often comes in properly — sudden downpours rather than polite drizzle. The north of the island catches significantly more of this than the south, so where you stay genuinely matters. Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés in the south tend to stay drier and sunnier than Las Palmas or the interior. Even so, pack a layer and accept that a beach day might occasionally become a wander-around-a-market day.

Crowds are refreshingly manageable. The summer madness has cleared out and the serious winter sun-seekers haven’t fully arrived yet. You’ll share the beaches and restaurants with other Europeans escaping the grey, but nothing feels rammed. Prices reflect this — accommodation is noticeably cheaper than December onwards, and you’ll actually get a restaurant table without planning it like a military operation.

Essentially everything is open. Gran Canaria doesn’t really do seasonal shutdowns the way some Mediterranean destinations do. The waterparks might have reduced hours, but restaurants, shops, excursions and attractions are operating normally.

**Who should go in November?** Couples, solo travellers, older visitors, anyone who wants warmth without the chaos, or people combining beach time with hiking in the dramatic interior. The landscape is genuinely spectacular and hiking in cooler temperatures beats doing it in August heat.

**Who might struggle?** Families banking entirely on guaranteed pool weather, or anyone who’ll be devastated by a rainy afternoon.

**Practical tip:** Book accommodation in the south of the island specifically. It’s not just marketing — the microclimate difference between the north and south is real and significant in November.
