December is genuinely one of the better times to visit Hurghada, and that’s not just tourist brochure talk.

That’s perfectly comfortable for wandering around, eating outside, and enjoying yourself without melting. Evenings get notably cooler though, sometimes dropping to around 15 degrees or lower, which catches a lot of people off guard. Pack a proper jacket because that Red Sea breeze at night feels genuinely cold when you’ve been thinking of this as a winter sun escape. Rainfall is minimal – we’re talking desert climate – so you’re unlikely to see any, but it’s not completely impossible. The sea temperature drops a little compared to summer but remains swimable for most people, hovering around 22-24 degrees.

Book diving trips and snorkelling excursions directly at the marina rather than through your hotel. You’ll typically pay significantly less for identical experiences.
