# Ibiza in October: The Island Finally Exhales
By October, Ibiza has stopped performing. The summer circus — the €30 cocktails, the queues snaking around superclubs, the bodies packed shoulder-to-shoulder on every beach — has largely packed up and gone home. What’s left is something genuinely nicer.
The weather sits around 24°C, which is honestly ideal. You’re not melting. You can actually walk around San Antonio’s old town or explore the UNESCO-listed Dalt Vila without arriving anywhere drenched in sweat. The sea is still warm from months of summer sun, so swimming is absolutely on the table, especially in the first half of the month. The 55mm of rainfall sounds alarming but it typically arrives as a few dramatic afternoon storms rather than persistent grey drizzle. You’ll get mostly sunny days with the occasional moody sky thrown in.
Crowds drop significantly after the first week. The mega-clubs — Pacha, Ushuaïa, Amnesia — run closing parties in early October that attract serious party pilgrims for one last hurrah, then go quiet. If clubbing was your whole reason for coming, check specific closing dates carefully because missing them means missing them.
What stays open is enough. Restaurants, beach bars, and smaller venues continue trading happily. The northern villages like Santa Gertrudis and Sant Joan are lovely and never really catered to the summer madness anyway. Hiking and cycling routes become genuinely pleasant rather than acts of self-harm.
**Is it worth it?** For couples, solo travellers, and anyone whose idea of a good Ibiza trip involves food, scenery, and not wanting to cry in a taxi queue at 4am — yes, absolutely. Families will find it relaxed and affordable. Budget-conscious travellers will notice prices noticeably lower than peak season.
If you came purely for world-famous DJ sets and beach club mayhem, July or August is your window. October belongs to a different kind of visitor entirely.
**Practical tip:** Rent a car. Off-season buses run infrequently, taxis get pricier, and the quieter roads finally make exploring the island’s interior feel effortless rather than stressful.
