# Ischia in November: The Honest Version

Let’s be straight with you. November in Ischia is quiet, a little melancholy, and genuinely beautiful if you go in with the right expectations.

The weather sits around 12-13°C, which sounds fine until you factor in the wind coming off the water. It feels colder than it reads. You’ll get roughly 60mm of rain across the month, meaning a handful of genuinely grey, wet days mixed with crisp, clear ones where the light on the volcanic hills is absolutely worth the trip alone. Pack layers and something properly waterproof, not just a light jacket you’re hoping will do.

The crowds are essentially gone. Not thinned out — gone. The main towns like Ischia Porto and Forio still function normally, but the beach resorts along Citara and Maronti feel almost post-apocalyptic, in a peaceful way. You’ll have the thermal pools and gardens largely to yourself, which is honestly a revelation if you’ve only ever seen photos of them packed in August.

Here’s the catch though: a significant chunk of restaurants, bars, and smaller hotels close from late October through March. This isn’t like shoulder season where things are quieter. Some streets feel genuinely shuttered. Before you book anything, email ahead to confirm your preferred restaurants are actually open. Don’t assume.

The thermal spas — particularly Poseidon and Negomonte — typically close or run reduced operations, so check their specific dates. The Aragonese Castle stays open and is spectacular with autumn mist around it.

**Is it worth it?** For certain people, absolutely yes. If you want to walk the interior trails, soak in a thermal bath without queuing, eat at a restaurant where the owner actually talks to you, and pay roughly half the summer prices — November delivers. If you need beach swimming, nightlife, or guaranteed sunshine, book Sicily instead.

**One practical tip:** Hire a car or scooter from day one. The buses get patchy and your options for reaching open restaurants across the island narrow quickly without wheels.
