# Kalkan in June: Worth It?

June is honestly one of the sweeter spots in the Kalkan calendar, sitting in that comfortable gap before July and August turn the place into something considerably more hectic and expensive.

The weather in June is genuinely lovely rather than punishing. You’re looking at around 29°C, which feels warm and properly summery without the suffocating heat that rolls in later in summer. Ten millimetres of rain across the whole month means you might get one slightly grey afternoon where you nurse a coffee and feel briefly smug about not being at home. Evenings are warm enough for dinner on a rooftop terrace without needing a cardigan, which feels like the whole point of going.

Crowds are present but manageable. Kalkan has never been Marmaris, and in June it keeps that boutique, slightly self-congratulatory atmosphere it trades on. The harbour restaurants are busy but you can usually get a table without queuing. The narrow streets are animated rather than overwhelming. Weekends creep busier than weekdays, and the second half of June noticeably busier than the first as UK and European schools start breaking up.

Everything is open. This matters more than people realise – Kalkan’s better restaurants and boat trip operators are all running full schedules, the beach clubs are operational, and you won’t arrive to find half the town still shaking off the winter. The water temperature is around 24°C by late June, which is genuinely swimmable rather than a test of character.

Is it worth it? For couples, older travellers and anyone who values actually being able to hear themselves think over a meal – yes, absolutely. For families with younger children who aren’t yet in school-holiday constraints, June offers real value since prices haven’t spiked to peak-August levels. Party seekers will find it quieter than they might want.

**Practical tip:** Book your preferred restaurant for the first night before you travel. The good spots fill up even in June, and nothing deflates arrival evening like wandering around hungry making disappointed faces at full terraces.
