# Krk in June: Before the Madness Sets In

June is genuinely one of the better times to visit Krk, and I say that as someone who’s also been there in August and spent half the time hunting for parking and resenting other tourists.

The weather sits around 22°C, which sounds modest but feels perfect. You’re not melting. You can actually walk around the old town in Krk without stopping every ten minutes to find shade. The sea is warm enough to swim comfortably, though it depends on the week — early June can still feel a bit brisk, while late June is genuinely lovely. Ten millimetres of rain across the month means you might get one grey afternoon, not a wasted holiday. Pack a light layer for evenings because the temperature drops and the breeze off the water has opinions.

Crowds are manageable in June, which is the whole point. Croatians and serious European regulars know about June, so it’s not empty — don’t expect solitude — but you can actually get a table at a decent restaurant without a reservation made three days in advance. The beaches at Baška and Vrbnik have space. You can appreciate the limestone and the pine trees without someone’s inflatable unicorn in the frame.

Practically everything is open. Restaurants, boat trips, the ferry connections. The island is functional and staffed. This isn’t shoulder season with half the shutters down — it’s early season with the infrastructure running and the staff still cheerful.

Who is June actually for? Couples, people who genuinely want to swim and eat well without the chaos, anyone over 35 who’s done the peak-summer beach holiday and now values sleep and parking. Families with younger kids do well here too since the crowds haven’t peaked.

Who might not love it? If you want the full buzzing summer nightlife energy, you’ll find it underwhelming. That arrives in July.

**Practical tip:** Book your accommodation in Baška rather than Krk town if you want beach access without constant driving. It makes the whole trip easier.
