# Ksamil in July: Beautiful, Busy, and Worth It (With Caveats)

Let’s be straight with you: July in Ksamil is peak madness. The little Albanian village that sits just below the Greek border transforms into one of the most crowded stretches of coastline in the entire Balkans, and you need to know what you’re walking into before you book.

The weather is genuinely excellent. Nearly 29 degrees most days, barely any rain to worry about, and the Ionian Sea sits at a temperature that makes getting in effortless rather than bracing. The water stays that ridiculous turquoise colour you’ve seen in photos, and yes, it actually looks like that in real life. No filter needed.

What the photos don’t show is the beach umbrellas packed shoulder to shoulder, the queues for the little boat taxis out to the islands, and the restaurant prices that quietly double compared to shoulder season. The four small islands just offshore are stunning but reaching them in July means competing with what feels like half of Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Italy simultaneously discovering the same spot. Arrive at the main beaches after 10am and you’re hunting for space.

Everything is open and buzzing. Restaurants, bars, boat rentals, paddleboard hire — the place is fully alive. If you want atmosphere, cold Korca beer at a waterfront restaurant watching the sunset, and that full summer energy, July delivers completely.

Is it worth visiting in July? If you’re sociable, flexible, and genuinely love that packed summer holiday vibe, absolutely yes. If you’re someone who finds crowded beaches stressful rather than fun, this specific month will frustrate you. Come in June or September instead and you’ll get almost identical weather with dramatically fewer people.

**One practical tip:** Get to the beach before 8:30am. Seriously. It sounds painful on holiday but those early morning hours in Ksamil are genuinely magical — calm water, golden light, and you can actually pick your spot. By midday, that window has completely closed.
