You’re catching it at an interesting moment, somewhere between genuinely pleasant and beginning to strain at the seams.

Weather-wise, June is pretty reliably warm and sunny along this stretch of Puglia. You’re typically looking at temperatures climbing from the mid-twenties into the low thirties by the end of the month, with the sea warming up enough that swimming feels genuinely inviting rather than bracing. Rainfall is minimal – the odd storm can roll in, but you’re unlikely to lose more than half a day to it. Pack light, but throw in one layer for evenings.

The old town is beautiful, and that’s the honest problem. Everyone knows it now. That cliffside view, those whitewashed lanes, the famous free-falling beach – they’ve been photographed millions of times and people show up accordingly. In June, crowds are building noticeably, especially on weekends. The main beach and the lookout spots get genuinely busy by mid-morning. Restaurants are fully operational, the beach clubs are set up and running, and you won’t find anything closed for seasonal reasons.

Is it worth going? Yes, with managed expectations. It’s a small town and some of it is genuinely as stunning in person as it looks online. The swimming in those rocky coves is legitimately excellent and the seafood is very good. But if you’re imagining wandering empty medieval streets at golden hour, adjust that picture considerably.

June suits you if you want the full Polignano experience with slightly more breathing room than peak summer, or if you’re combining it with a wider Puglia road trip and can visit on a weekday morning and move on.

**Practical tip:** Get to the main overlook and Lama Monachile beach before 9am. The light is better anyway, and you’ll actually be able to see the place rather than the backs of strangers’ heads.
