# Poreč in June: The Sweet Spot Before the Chaos

June in Poreč is probably the best argument for not waiting until summer. The weather sits around 25°C, which sounds perfect on paper and mostly is in practice. You’ll get genuinely warm, beach-worthy days, though June does carry some real rain — about 73mm across the month, which isn’t nothing. Expect a handful of proper afternoon downpours rather than constant drizzle. They pass quickly, but plan accordingly if you’re booking open-air dinners.

The crowds are building but haven’t peaked yet. Early June feels almost relaxed by Croatian coastal standards. By late June, particularly around the school holiday rush that hits Western Europe mid-month, the old town gets noticeably busier and prices edge upward. You can still walk the Euphrasian Basilica without queuing or elbowing past tour groups, which matters more than people expect — it’s genuinely one of the finest Byzantine monuments in Europe and deserves your full attention.

Everything is open. That’s worth stating plainly because shoulder season in some destinations means shuttered restaurants and reduced hours. Not here in June. The beaches are operational, boat trips are running, the waterfront restaurants are fully staffed, and you’ll actually get decent service because staff aren’t yet overwhelmed. Water temperature reaches around 22°C — cold enough to be refreshing, warm enough that most people swim happily.

It’s worth visiting in June specifically if you like having a pleasant place actually function properly around you. Young couples, people in their 30s and 40s who’ve done the August Mediterranean madness and sworn it off, and anyone who prioritises eating well over beach density will love it. Families with young kids in school can’t usually make it work calendar-wise, but those who can will find it ideal.

**Practical tip:** Book your accommodation early anyway. June feels calm compared to August but the good waterfront apartments and smaller hotels still fill up by March. The places left in May are either overpriced or disappointing. Sort it out early and then relax about everything else.
