The weather sits around 12 degrees, which sounds reasonable until you’re actually walking the Decumanus in a sea breeze that cuts right through your jacket. It’s genuinely worth visiting in March if you’re a photographer, a slow traveller, a history person, or someone who finds peak-season Croatia overwhelming and overpriced. It’s not the right choice if you need sunshine, swimming, or a buzzing social scene to feel like a trip was worthwhile.

One practical tip: check your accommodation and any specific restaurant you care about directly before booking. Don’t assume because something has an online presence that it’s actually operating in March. A quick email can save you showing up to a locked door and eating reheated pizza from the one place that is open.

Come in March with low expectations and the right layers, and Poreč will probably surprise you.
