# Zakynthos in November: The Honest Version

Let me be straight with you. November Zakynthos is a completely different island to the one splashed across Instagram. The famous blue water still exists. The dramatic cliffs of Navagio are still there. But almost everything built to serve tourists has shut up shop, locked the door, and gone home for winter.

The weather sits around 14°C, which sounds manageable until the wind picks up off the Ionian and suddenly that light jacket feels criminally inadequate. You’ll get roughly 60mm of rain across the month, meaning several genuinely wet days, not just romantic drizzle. Pack accordingly and stop pretending you won’t need waterproof shoes.

Crowds are essentially non-existent. Shipwreck Beach boat trips still run, but only when weather permits, which isn’t guaranteed. Zante Town itself has a quieter, lived-in quality that’s actually rather lovely if you appreciate places functioning as places rather than theme parks. Local tavernas operate on reduced hours and reduced menus, but the ones that stay open are feeding actual Greeks, which is usually a promising sign.

Is it worth visiting? Honestly, it depends entirely on you. If you need beach days, buzzing bars, and reliable sunshine, you will be miserable and you should book Tenerife instead without any shame whatsoever. But if you want dramatic scenery without another human in frame, genuinely good hiking before summer scorches everything crispy, significantly cheaper accommodation, and a slower pace that lets you notice the island rather than just photograph it, November can feel quietly wonderful.

It suits photographers, hikers, couples wanting somewhere peaceful, and anyone with flexible plans who won’t spiral into despair if a day gets rained off.

**One practical tip:** Don’t rely on Google Maps opening hours. Half the businesses listed as open simply aren’t in November. Before you travel anywhere specific for a meal or an excursion, call ahead. This saves considerable disappointment and hunger-fuelled arguments.

November Zakynthos rewards the right traveller generously. Just know which traveller you actually are before you book.
