# Paros in April: Honest Take

April in Paros sits in that interesting gap between “genuinely quiet” and “starting to wake up,” and whether that’s a good thing depends entirely on what you’re after.

The weather is pleasant but not beach weather, let’s be clear about that. Around 20 degrees sounds lovely on paper, and it genuinely is for walking around, but there’s a real bite in the wind off the Aegean, and you’ll wear a jacket most evenings without question. You’ll get maybe three or four days of proper grey sky and rain during the month, nothing dramatic, but enough that you can’t just assume sunshine. The light when it is clear though? Absolutely stunning. That sharp Cycladic brightness without the August haze.

Crowds are minimal. Naoussa and Parikia still have that slightly shuttered, end-of-winter feel in early April, with maybe a third of businesses actually trading. Don’t expect every taverna on your list to be open – some don’t bother until Orthodox Easter at the earliest, and Easter falls at different points each year, so check the calendar before you go. Post-Easter, things open up noticeably and the island shakes itself awake. There’s a pleasant rhythm to life that completely disappears by June.

This is genuinely ideal for hikers, cyclists, people renting a scooter and disappearing down marble-paved footpaths, photographers, and anyone who finds peak-season Greek islands more exhausting than relaxing. You can actually talk to locals. Accommodation prices are significantly lower. You can park.

It’s not ideal if your vision involves lying on a sunlounger with a cold beer for a week. The sea temperature is around 16-17 degrees and nobody sensible is swimming. The nightlife scene is essentially non-existent.

**Practical tip:** Rent a car rather than relying on buses, which run on skeletal off-season schedules. You’ll want the flexibility when you discover half your planned stops are closed and spontaneously decide to drive to the quieter western villages instead. That spontaneity is actually the whole point of going in April.
