Look, Hydra in February is a completely different island to the one plastered across Instagram. And depending on what you’re after, that’s either a problem or exactly the point.

Couples who want long walks, reading, simple meals and real quiet will find something almost uncomfortably peaceful here. First-time visitors might feel they’ve arrived at a closed theme park.

Check the ferry schedule before you commit to any dates. The Hellenic Seaways timetable reduces significantly in winter, and a bad weather day can mean you’re stuck an extra night whether you planned it or not. Build flexibility into your trip.
