# Zadar in November: Pretty Quiet, Pretty Wet
Let’s be straight with you. November in Zadar is not the postcard version. You’re looking at around 15 degrees, which sounds mild until you factor in the wind off the Adriatic and the fact that nearly 185mm of rain falls that month. That’s a lot of rain. Not constant drizzle either – Croatia does these proper downpours that roll in fast and soak everything before you’ve figured out where you left your jacket.
That said, there’s something genuinely appealing about Zadar in November if you go in with the right expectations.
The crowds are basically gone. The Sea Organ and the Sun Salutation installation on the waterfront, which spend summer surrounded by tourists doing identical photographs, are suddenly just… there. You can sit on the stone steps and actually listen to the Sea Organ doing its weird, beautiful thing without someone’s selfie stick in your peripheral vision. The old town feels like a real place again rather than a stage set.
Most of the good restaurants stay open, and the ones that do are noticeably more relaxed. You’ll get a table, the service is unhurried, and you’re eating with locals rather than tour groups. Konoba-style spots serving grilled fish and peka dishes are absolutely still worth your time. The Cathedral of St Anastasia and Forum area remain accessible, and Zadar’s museum scene ticks along fine year-round.
What’s genuinely closed or scaled back: ferry connections to the islands get patchy, some waterfront bars shut completely, and the general buzz of summer simply isn’t there.
Is it worth visiting? For couples or solo travellers who like history, good food, and atmosphere over sunshine and swimming – honestly yes. It’s cheap, uncrowded, and the old town is legitimately beautiful even under grey skies. For families with young kids or anyone wanting beach energy, wait until May.
**Practical tip:** Pack a compact umbrella and waterproof shoes, not just trainers. The old town’s stone streets get genuinely slippery when wet, and you will get wet.
