# Antalya in February: The Honest Version

Let’s be straight with you: Antalya in February is not the Antalya of Instagram. The turquoise water, the terrace restaurants, the beach bars — most of that is either closed or operating on a skeleton schedule, and the vibe is genuinely quiet in a way that can feel either peaceful or slightly deflating depending on what you were expecting.

The weather sits around 14-15°C, which sounds reasonable until you factor in the rain. February is legitimately wet here — nearly 142mm across the month, often arriving in proper sustained downpours rather than quick showers. You’ll have perfectly nice sunny days sandwiched between grey, blustery stretches, and the old city streets can get pretty miserable when it’s hammering down. Pack accordingly and don’t pretend you won’t need a proper rain jacket.

Crowds are essentially nonexistent. The old town of Kaleiçi feels almost entirely yours, which is genuinely lovely — you can wander the Roman harbour, the Hadrian’s Gate, and the narrow Ottoman streets without a single tour group in sight. The archaeological museum is open and absolutely worth several hours. Locals are noticeably more relaxed with tourists when the summer rush isn’t happening.

Most beach resorts along the coast are shuttered entirely, and the sprawling hotel complexes sit empty. If you’re staying in central Antalya rather than a resort area, you’ll find restaurants and cafes serving locals — proper food at proper prices, which is a welcome change from high-season tourist economics.

Is it worth going? Honestly, yes — for a specific type of traveller. If you want history, solitude, cheap accommodation, and you genuinely don’t mind unpredictable weather, February delivers something surprisingly authentic. If you’re dreaming of swimming and sunshine, just wait until May.

**One practical tip:** Book a hotel in Kaleiçi itself rather than the resort strip. Half the strip is closed, you’ll feel isolated, and the old town is where the actual life is happening in winter. Walking distance to everything that’s actually open matters enormously in February.
