# Fethiye in April: What It’s Actually Like

April sits in that sweet spot where Fethiye hasn’t quite woken up yet, which is either brilliant or annoying depending on what you’re after.

The weather is genuinely pleasant rather than spectacular. At around 22°C you’re comfortable in a t-shirt during the day but you’ll want a layer for evenings, and that 63mm of rainfall means you should expect proper rainy days, not just the odd shower. Typically you’ll get a week’s worth of wet weather spread across the month, sometimes in heavy bursts that roll in off the mountains fast and leave just as quickly. Don’t plan your entire trip around beach days because you’ll be disappointed. Do plan it around hiking, boat trips, and eating well, and you’ll be absolutely fine.

The crowds are refreshingly thin. Ölüdeniz won’t be packed, the market feels like an actual market rather than a tourist obstacle course, and you can walk around Kayaköy without weaving through selfie sticks. Most restaurants and shops are open but not all, and some boat operators are still running reduced schedules or haven’t fired up for the season yet. Worth checking in advance if something specific matters to you.

Is it worth going? Honestly, yes, particularly if you’re a hiker, a history person, or someone who finds peak-season Turkey overwhelming. The Lycian Way is genuinely beautiful in April, green and wildflower-covered before the summer sun bakes everything brown. The water is still cold though, around 18°C, so swimming is for the brave or the foolish. Don’t go expecting lazy beach holidays.

It suits couples, solo travellers, and walkers far more than families with young children who want guaranteed beach weather and full resort facilities. If you need a buzzing nightlife scene, come back in July.

**One practical tip:** book a gulet day trip early in your stay rather than leaving it for later. Captains sometimes cancel with short notice in April if weather looks sketchy, and you want time to rebook rather than miss it entirely.
