Visiting Kaş in February

Visiting Kaş in February

Weather in February: Average high 15.5°C, 110.5mm rainfall.

# Kaş in February: Pretty Quiet, Pretty Wet

Look, February in Kaş is not the postcard version. The harbour is atmospheric and the mountains are dramatic, but you should know what you’re actually walking into before you book flights.

The temperature sits around 15-16°C, which sounds reasonable until you factor in the rain. With over 110mm falling across the month, February is genuinely one of the wettest times to visit. You’re not looking at constant downpours necessarily, but grey skies, sudden heavy showers and that particular damp chill that stone towns absorb really effectively. Pack a proper waterproof, not a fashion jacket.

The crowds, though? Almost nonexistent. This is either a selling point or a warning depending on who you are. The famous Saturday market still runs, a few cafes stay open, and the town feels genuinely lived-in rather than performance Turkish village for tourists. You’ll hear more locals than foreigners, which is lovely. However, a solid chunk of restaurants and boat tour operators are closed or running skeleton schedules. Don’t arrive expecting the full summer menu of options.

The sea is around 17°C, so diving is technically possible for hardcore underwater types, and some dive schools do stay operational. Hiking the Lycian Way is actually excellent in February when the heat that makes summer walking brutal is completely absent. The ruins at Patara, Xanthos and nearby Myra are crowd-free and genuinely special in soft winter light.

**Is it worth it?** For the right person, absolutely yes. If you want solitude, lower prices, good hiking, and you don’t need buzzing nightlife or reliable sunshine, Kaş in February has a melancholy beauty that the summer version simply cannot offer.

If you need guaranteed warmth, a packed social scene, and boat trips every morning, wait until May.

**One practical tip:** Call ahead to wherever you’re planning to eat dinner. Seriously, just do it. Showing up to find your shortlist of three restaurants all closed at 7pm on a Tuesday is a specific February Kaş experience you can easily avoid.
