# Kaş in March: Pretty Quiet, Pretty Lovely
March in Kaş sits in that slightly awkward shoulder season where the town hasn’t fully woken up yet but you can already see why everyone loses their mind about it in summer. The weather is genuinely pleasant rather than spectacular – 17.4°C means comfortable walking around in a light jacket, but don’t come expecting to swim unless you run cold. The sea temperature lags well behind the air, hovering around 16°C, which most people find bracingly unpleasant rather than refreshing.
The 77mm of rainfall sounds alarming but it’s mostly short, dramatic bursts rather than week-long misery. You’ll have stretches of brilliant sunshine between showers, and the surrounding mountains look absolutely stunning when the clouds lift after rain – greener and sharper than the bleached-out version you get in July.
**The crowd situation is genuinely excellent.** The boutique shops along the narrow streets are mostly open, the good restaurants are serving, and you can walk the harbour without performing a slow shuffle through selfie-takers. Locals are relaxed and actually have time for a conversation. Some of the smaller accommodation spots and boat tour operators are still closed or running reduced schedules, so you’ll want to check ahead rather than assume everything is running.
The hiking is arguably the best reason to visit in March specifically. The Lycian Way is walkable without baking yourself alive, wildflowers are starting to appear, and the ancient ruins at Patara or Xanthos feel genuinely atmospheric rather than crowded backdrops for Instagram content.
**Is it worth going?** If you want beaches and boat parties, no – come back in June. But if you want to actually experience a beautiful Mediterranean town at human scale, eat well, walk along the coast, and feel like you’ve discovered somewhere rather than queued for it, March works really well.
**Practical tip:** Book accommodation that includes breakfast. Several of the nicer pensions are transitioning back into operation in March and availability can be patchy – locking in breakfast also means you have a reliable warm base when the morning rain rolls in.
