Weather in March: Average high 17.4°C, 77.4mm rainfall.

# Ölüdeniz in March: What It’s Actually Like

Look, March in Ölüdeniz is not the postcard version. The famous Blue Lagoon is still there, still absurdly beautiful, but you’re seeing it under grey skies roughly half the time, and that turquoise water is cold enough to make you genuinely reconsider your life choices if you try swimming.

**The reality of the weather**

At around 17°C, days can feel pleasant when the sun breaks through, almost spring-like in a way that tricks you into leaving your jacket at the hotel. Then clouds roll in off the mountains and you’re suddenly underdressed and slightly damp. The 77mm of rainfall across the month isn’t constant misery, but expect several full rainy days and plenty of overcast ones mixed in with the gorgeous clear days. It’s genuinely unpredictable.

**Crowds and what’s open**

This is honestly the best part of visiting in March. Ölüdeniz in summer is hectic, overpriced, and exhausting. In March, the beach isn’t empty but it’s nowhere near overwhelmed. You can actually stand in front of the lagoon and appreciate it. The trade-off is that plenty of restaurants, bars and smaller guesthouses are still shuttered or just opening for the season with reduced staff and menus. The main spots are operating, but don’t expect everything to be fully up and running.

**Paragliding** from Babadağ does still happen in March when conditions allow, though flights get cancelled more frequently than in summer.

**Is it worth it?**

For hikers, absolutely yes. The Lycian Way is spectacular in spring, wildflowers are coming through, temperatures are actually comfortable for walking, and you won’t be competing with tour groups at every viewpoint. For beach holiday seekers expecting to swim and lounge in sunshine all week, honestly wait until May at the earliest.

**One practical tip**

Book accommodation with a bathtub or good shower and a café attached to the hotel. On the rainy days, and there will be rainy days, you’ll be very glad you did.
