# Bonifacio in April: Worth It?

Bonifacio sits on those dramatic limestone cliffs in southern Corsica, and April is genuinely one of the more interesting times to think about going – but interesting doesn’t always mean straightforward.

**What the weather actually does**

April in Bonifacio is unpredictable in a way that can either delight or frustrate you depending on your personality type. You’ll get genuinely warm days pushing toward 18-20°C, proper sunshine that makes those white cliffs glow, and then you’ll also get wind. Bonifacio is notoriously windy at the best of times – it sits on a strait that basically acts as a natural wind tunnel between Corsica and Sardinia. In April that wind has real bite when it arrives. Rain is possible, probably a handful of days throughout the month, nothing that should define your trip but enough that you shouldn’t expect a guaranteed beach holiday.

**Crowds and what’s open**

This is where April genuinely earns points. The summer crowds that make Bonifacio’s narrow upper town feel claustrophobic are largely absent. You can actually stand on the clifftop walk and think, rather than shuffle. Most restaurants and shops are open by mid-April, some from early April, though you might find Monday and Tuesday closures more common than in peak season. The boat trips out to the sea caves and toward the Lavezzi Islands – genuinely one of the best things to do here – are running, though schedules are lighter than July.

**Is it worth it and for whom**

Honestly, yes, for the right person. If you want atmosphere over beach weather, if you like having a UNESCO-listed old town without fighting through selfie sticks, if you’re a walker or a history person – April works really well. It’s not the trip for someone whose holiday success depends on guaranteed swimming conditions.

**One practical tip**

Book accommodation anyway. Bonifacio isn’t huge, the good places are limited, and even April sees enough visitors that you don’t want to arrive hoping something decent is available.
