# Cádiz in June: Worth the Trip?

June is genuinely one of the better times to visit Cádiz, and I say that as someone who’s been in August and wanted to cry.

The weather sits around 27-28°C, which sounds warm but feels manageable compared to what’s coming in July and August. The Atlantic breeze that wraps around this city – and it really is almost entirely surrounded by water – keeps things from feeling suffocating. You’ll want sunscreen, obviously, but you won’t be staggering between patches of shade cursing your own life choices. That 4.7mm of rain is basically nothing; you might see one brief shower the whole trip, more likely nothing at all.

Crowds are building but haven’t peaked yet. The beaches at La Caleta and Playa de la Victoria have people on them, but you can still find a spot without performing a military operation. The old town stays pretty manageable, especially if you’re up before 10am. Restaurants are busy but not the August situation where everywhere worth eating is fully booked by Tuesday.

Everything is open and actually running properly – museums, boat trips around the bay, rooftop bars, all of it. The Cathedral looks genuinely extraordinary in June light. The Mercado Central is doing full business, which matters because wandering through it with a coffee is honestly one of the best free hours you can spend in Spain.

Is it worth visiting in June specifically? Yes, particularly if you’re someone who wants beach time alongside city exploring without the brutal heat making the city portion miserable. It’s a sweet spot. Families with school-age kids will find it slightly awkward timing depending on your country’s term dates, but couples, friends, and solo travelers have little reason to avoid it.

**One practical tip:** Cádiz is a small city and genuinely walkable, but it sits on a narrow peninsula and can feel remote from elsewhere in Andalusia. Rent a car or plan your transport to Jerez or Seville in advance – leaving it last minute gets expensive and awkward fast.
