Visiting Limassol in April
# Limassol in April: What It’s Actually Like
April is one of those months where Cyprus starts to remember it’s a Mediterranean island again. The winter chill is genuinely gone, temperatures sit somewhere in the low-to-mid twenties most days, and the sun has real warmth in it without yet becoming the oppressive hammer it turns into by July. That said, April weather in Limassol isn’t a guaranteed postcard. You’ll likely get several beautiful days followed by a grey, breezy one, and rain is still a realistic possibility, particularly early in the month. Don’t pack exclusively summer clothes and expect perfection.
The crowds are manageable, which is honestly one of April’s best selling points. The Easter period is the big exception here – if Orthodox Easter falls in April, Limassol gets busy with Cypriot families returning from abroad and Greek tourists making the hop over. That week specifically means higher hotel prices and packed tavernas. Outside of Easter though, you’re largely ahead of the summer tourist wave and the seafront promenade feels like it belongs to actual people rather than a procession of sunburned strangers.
Everything is open. This isn’t a shoulder season destination that half-shuts down. Restaurants, bars along the old port area, the castle, wineries in the nearby Troodos foothills – all operating normally. The wine villages are particularly good value in April because the roads are quiet and winery visits feel genuinely unhurried.
Who is April right for? Honestly, most people. Couples who want atmosphere without chaos, anyone interested in walking the coastal path or exploring the old town without sweating through their shirt, food-focused travellers who want a proper table without booking three weeks ahead. It’s probably not ideal if a guaranteed beach holiday is your entire goal – the sea is still on the cool side and you might get a few days where sitting by water feels more optimistic than comfortable.
**Practical tip:** If your dates overlap with Orthodox Easter, book accommodation immediately. Prices jump and good central options disappear faster than you’d expect for a city this size.
