Visiting Hurghada in July

# Hurghada in July: The Honest Version

Let’s not sugarcoat it — July in Hurghada is **brutally hot**. We’re talking 38-40°C on a regular afternoon, with humidity rolling in off the Red Sea that makes the air feel genuinely thick. You step outside and the heat hits you like opening an oven door. Rainfall is essentially nonexistent this time of year, so at least you won’t be caught in a downpour, but that also means zero relief from above. The sun is relentless from about 9am until early evening.

That said, plenty of people go and have a perfectly good time — you just need to know what you’re signing up for.

**The crowds** are a mixed picture. July is peak European summer, so the beaches and resorts are busy, particularly with families from Eastern Europe and Russia who seem genuinely unbothered by the temperature. The main strip, the marina, and the bigger resort pools will feel lively rather than peaceful. If you’re hoping for a quiet escape, this isn’t your month.

**What’s open?** Pretty much everything. Hurghada doesn’t really have an off-season the way somewhere like a ski resort does. The dive centres are running, the glass-bottom boat trips are going, the shopping centres are gloriously air-conditioned and very much welcoming you in. Water parks are operating and honestly make a lot of sense in July specifically.

**Is it worth going?** For beach-and-pool people who genuinely love heat and don’t plan to do much sightseeing beyond the water, yes. For anyone wanting to explore, walk around, or do anything energetic outdoors during daylight hours, it’s genuinely uncomfortable and you’ll spend half your holiday retreating indoors.

It suits **couples or families who are happy to be resort-based**, treat the sea as their main activity, and embrace the early-morning/late-evening rhythm that locals live by.

**Practical tip:** Book a room with a private balcony facing away from direct western sun. Your afternoon nap will actually be survivable, and evenings out there become genuinely pleasant once the temperature drops after 8pm.
