The saving grace is that the Red Sea coast stays relatively dry, so you’re dealing with fierce, baking heat rather than the suffocating humidity you’d find elsewhere in the region. There’s almost no rainfall — genuinely close to zero. But that sun will flatten you if you’re not careful.

Here’s the thing though. That heat drives most tourists away, which means Dahab in July has a completely different character than the peak winter months. The budget travellers and backpackers who call Dahab home year-round don’t disappear in July. The town keeps its relaxed, slightly scruffy charm. Most restaurants, camps, and shops remain open. This isn’t a place that shuts down seasonally the way some beach destinations do.

Who is this month actually good for? Divers, freedivers, windsurfers (afternoon winds pick up reliably), and people who genuinely want low-key and cheap. Families with young children and people sensitive to heat should probably reconsider — the middle of the day is genuinely miserable outside, and keeping kids comfortable requires real planning.

Who should look elsewhere? Anyone whose holiday depends on long days of comfortable sightseeing or wandering around in the afternoon sun. You’ll be hiding indoors between noon and four regardless.
