Visiting Agadir in April
# Agadir in April: What It’s Actually Like
April is genuinely one of the better times to visit Agadir, and I say that as someone who’s also been there in August when the beach feels like a conveyor belt of sunburned Europeans.
The weather is warm but not punishing. You’re typically looking at daytime temperatures around 22-26°C, occasionally nudging higher. There’s some chance of rain early in the month, but honestly it’s rarely the kind that ruins a trip – more likely a grey morning that burns off by noon. The Atlantic keeps things fresher than Morocco’s inland cities, so evenings can still feel cool enough to want a jacket when you’re walking along the corniche after dinner.
Crowds are building but haven’t peaked yet. Easter week aside – avoid that specific week if you hate queues and inflated prices – April sits in that sweet spot where hotels are open and staffed properly, restaurants aren’t overwhelmed, and you can actually get a spot on the beach without performing some kind of towel-placement military operation at 7am. Summer is genuinely packed with package tourists, so April feels comparatively relaxed.
Everything is open. This isn’t one of those destinations where you arrive and find half the town still shuttered. The souk, the marina restaurants, the day trips to Paradise Valley or Taghazout for surf culture – all functioning. Agadir rebuilt itself completely after the 1960 earthquake, so it lacks the ancient medina atmosphere you’d find in Marrakech or Essaouira, but April is a fine time to use it as a base for exploring those places too.
Is it worth it? For beach-focused travellers, families, or anyone wanting reliable sun without full summer intensity, absolutely. If you’re chasing Morocco’s cultural depth, Agadir is always a bit of a supporting character rather than the main event – and that’s true in any month.
**Practical tip:** Book accommodation near the beach rather than the centre. The distances feel manageable on a map but become tedious on foot when you’re tired and sandy.
