Visiting Venice in June

# Venice in June: Beautiful, Busy, and Honestly a Bit Much

June in Venice is genuinely gorgeous and genuinely overwhelming, sometimes within the same hour.

The weather sits in that sweet spot of warm without being brutal — most days land somewhere in the mid-20s Celsius, sunny and pleasant. That said, it can surprise you. Rain showers roll in without much warning, and humidity starts climbing as the month progresses, especially toward the end of June when you get the first real taste of that thick, soupy Venetian summer air. Pack a light layer and a small umbrella you won’t be annoyed carrying.

Here’s the honest part: June is peak season, and it shows. The narrow streets around San Marco and the Rialto aren’t just busy, they’re genuinely difficult to move through by mid-morning. Cruise ships are still docking nearby, day-trippers flood in from the mainland, and you will absolutely find yourself stuck behind a slow-moving group at least a dozen times a day. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but you should know what you’re walking into.

Everything is open, which is a real advantage. Museums, churches, restaurants, boat tours — all running at full capacity with extended hours. The city is functioning at its most complete version of itself. Exhibitions are on, the Biennale (in odd years) draws an interesting international crowd, and evenings are long and warm enough to sit outside with a Spritz and feel like you understand why people love this place so much.

Is it worth it? Depends entirely on who you are. If you want convenience, warm weather, and full access to everything, yes. If you’re sensitive to crowds or travelling on a tight budget, you’ll have a better time in April or October and you should probably just go then instead.

**One practical tip:** Start moving by 7:30am. Seriously. The city before 9am belongs to residents, bakers, and delivery boats. It’s quieter, cooler, and looks completely different. Those are the hours Venice earns its reputation.
