# Fethiye in October: The Sweet Spot Nobody Talks About Enough
October is honestly one of the better times to visit Fethiye, and I say that as someone who’s been there in the sweaty chaos of August and lived to regret it.
The temperature sits around 25-26°C, which sounds almost too perfect on paper, and it pretty much delivers. You’re getting proper warm days without that oppressive wall of heat that makes July and August feel like someone left the oven on. You can actually walk around Kayaköy or hike sections of the Lycian Way without arriving completely destroyed. The sea is still warm enough to swim comfortably – it holds the summer heat well into autumn – so you’re not just paddling and pretending.
The 66mm of rainfall means you will see some rain. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It usually comes in short, dramatic bursts rather than grey all-day drizzle, but pack a light layer and accept that one afternoon might involve sitting in a tea house watching the hills disappear into cloud. That’s not the worst thing that’s ever happened to anyone.
Crowds drop noticeably from mid-October onwards. The boat trips still run, the restaurants are still open, and you’ll get a table at Paspatur without standing around looking hopeful. Some of the smaller beach clubs start winding down toward the end of the month, but the town itself stays genuinely alive.
**Who should go?** Couples, solo travellers, anyone who hates crowds, hikers, people who want to actually see the Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz without it looking like a floating inflatable convention. Families with young kids can still have a great time in early October especially.
**Who might struggle?** Anyone whose holiday depends entirely on guaranteed sunshine every single day. You’ll probably be fine, but if one cloudy afternoon ruins everything for you, manage your expectations.
**Practical tip:** Book paragliding from Babadağ in the first half of October rather than leaving it to chance – weather windows get less predictable as the month goes on, and you don’t want to spend your last day hoping.
