Where to Stay in Kaş

Where to Stay in Kaş

Kaş sits on a rocky hillside above a small harbor, and where you stay genuinely shapes your experience here. The town is compact enough that no location is truly terrible, but some positions are significantly better than others for the money.

The old town center, clustered around the main square and the streets climbing behind the amphitheater, is the sweet spot for mid-range travelers. You’re walking distance from the harbor, the best restaurants on Uzun Çarşı street, and the morning market without paying the premium that waterfront properties charge. Boutique hotels in converted stone houses here typically run between 80 and 150 euros a night and deliver genuine character, decent air conditioning, and rooftop terraces with sea views that honestly rival more expensive options. Pension Kaş and several similar family-run spots in this zone represent solid value.

The harbor-adjacent hotels look seductive in photos but carry a noise penalty. Summer nights mean music from waterfront bars carrying well past midnight, and you pay a premium for a view you’re unlikely to enjoy if you’re exhausted. Save the harborfront for dinner, not sleep.

The hillside neighborhoods above the center, particularly along the road toward the Byzantine church, offer quieter nights and sometimes better views for lower prices. The trade-off is a 10 to 15 minute walk down to everything, which feels longer after a day of diving or hiking. For budget travelers, small pensions in this area around 40 to 60 euros are perfectly serviceable. Splurge travelers can find boutique properties with private pools up here for under 200 euros, which would cost three times that in comparable Mediterranean destinations.

The booking mistake people consistently make is reserving accommodation without checking whether breakfast is included. In Kaş, Turkish breakfast is exceptional and typically costs 8 to 12 euros per person at cafes. Many mid-range hotels include it, which genuinely affects your daily budget calculation. A hotel listed at 100 euros with breakfast often beats one at 85 euros without it.

Book at least six weeks ahead for July and August. Kaş has limited rooms and fills faster than most visitors expect.
