# Ölüdeniz in June: The Sweet Spot Before the Madness
June is probably the month I’d actually recommend Ölüdeniz to someone I genuinely liked. Here’s why.
The weather is almost unreasonably good. You’re looking at around 29°C, which is warm enough to fully justify lying on that famous lagoon beach all day, but you’re not yet hitting the brutal 35-38°C wall that July and August deliver. The 16mm of rainfall for the entire month means you might get one slightly grey afternoon, maybe two. That’s it. The sea is around 24°C, which feels genuinely refreshing rather than the bathtub temperature it becomes later in summer.
Crowds are real but manageable. The beach and Blue Lagoon get busy, particularly on weekends when domestic tourists arrive from nearby cities, and the paragliding queue from Babadağ Mountain gets longer as the month progresses. But you can still find a spot on the pebbles without someone else’s elbow in your face, which absolutely cannot be said for August. Restaurants have availability without booking three days ahead. The main strip has energy without being oppressive.
Everything is open and fully operational. This matters more than people realise. Coming in April or early May, you’ll find some boat trips not yet running and a few businesses still dusting off their chairs. By June, the full circus is going – boat trips along the coast to Butterfly Valley and St Nicholas Island, water sports, every restaurant, the works.
Is it worth it? For couples, solo travellers, and anyone who wants the experience without peak-season punishment, absolutely yes. Families with young children might find it slightly easier in late June when school’s out, as the resort gears up further. Budget travellers should note prices are climbing toward high season rates by mid-June.
**Practical tip:** Book your paragliding tandem flight for early morning, around 7-8am. The thermals are gentler, the light is extraordinary, and you’ll be back on the beach before most tourists have finished breakfast. Afternoon slots often get delayed or cancelled due to wind.
