# Antalya in July: Hot, Heaving, and Honestly Still Worth It

Let me be straight with you: July in Antalya is *a lot*. The thermometer sits around 34-35°C most days, and it doesn’t really apologize for that. The heat isn’t just a number either — the sun bounces off white stone and marble everywhere, so it feels more aggressive than your weather app suggests. Rainfall is basically irrelevant; that 4mm figure means you might see one brief shower the entire month, if that. Pack accordingly.

The crowds are real and you should make your peace with them before you go. Antalya in July is peak European summer holiday season, which means the old town (Kaleiçi) is genuinely packed by mid-morning, the beaches are shoulder-to-shoulder by 10am, and anywhere worth eating has a queue. Hadrian’s Gate looks magnificent in photos; in July you’re getting that shot with forty other people’s arms in the frame.

That said, everything is absolutely open. Every restaurant, boat tour, rooftop bar, museum — all of it running at full capacity. The waterfalls at Düden and Kurşunlu are operating, the bazaars are buzzing, and nightlife runs late into the morning because nobody wants to move during daylight hours anyway. The city shifts its rhythm: people sleep late, come alive after 7pm, and the evenings on the harbour are genuinely lovely once the temperature drops to something bearable.

**Is it worth going?** If you’re primarily there for beach and sea, yes — the Mediterranean is warm and clear and the resort infrastructure is excellent. If you’re hoping for a relaxed cultural wander, honestly consider October instead. The archaeological sites like Perge and Aspendos are brutal in full July sun; even enthusiastic history lovers start fantasising about shade by 11am.

**One practical tip:** Book a boat trip that leaves at 8am. You’ll cover the coastline before the heat peaks, beat the crowds at the popular swimming spots, and be back onshore having a cold Efes while everyone else is just dragging themselves to the beach.
