# Sitges in April: What It’s Actually Like

April in Sitges sits in that interesting middle ground where the town hasn’t quite decided what season it wants to be. At 18.1°C average, it’s genuinely pleasant rather than hot – think light jacket in the evenings, maybe a t-shirt by midday if the sun’s properly out. Don’t let anyone sell you on beach weather though. The Mediterranean is still cold enough that only the most determined swimmers are going in, and you’ll spend most of your time appreciating the coastline rather than actually using it.

The 55mm of rainfall means you’ll almost certainly catch at least one grey, drizzly day. Possibly two. This isn’t catastrophic, but it’s worth knowing that Sitges without sunshine loses a fair chunk of its magic. The whitewashed buildings and bougainvillea need that light to do their thing.

Crowd-wise, April is genuinely comfortable. Easter week is the obvious exception – Semana Santa draws visitors and the town gets noticeably busier, with some accommodation prices jumping accordingly. Outside of that, you’re looking at a relaxed pace. Restaurants are open, the beach bars are starting to stir back to life, and you’re not fighting anyone for a table at dinner or a spot on the promenade.

Most things are accessible. The Cau Ferrat museum, the old town, the church overlooking the sea – all perfectly enjoyable. What’s missing is atmosphere. Sitges earns its reputation as a lively, vibrant place largely in summer, and April is still warming up to that version of itself.

**Who should go?** Couples wanting a quiet weekend, anyone who genuinely hates crowds but still wants somewhere beautiful, people combining it with Barcelona who fancy a half-day escape.

**Who should wait?** Anyone whose happiness depends on actually swimming, people chasing that buzzy terrace scene, families expecting beach days.

**One practical tip:** Book accommodation before Easter week locks in, but deliberately *avoid* travelling during it unless you want crowds with none of the summer payoff. The weeks either side are the sweet spot.
