# Cagliari in June: What It’s Actually Like
June is genuinely one of the better months to visit Cagliari, and I’ll tell you why without overselling it.
The weather sits around 26-27°C, which feels just right for most people. Hot enough that you’re absolutely in summer mode, cool enough that walking up through the Castello district or wandering the Villanova neighbourhood doesn’t feel like a punishment. You’ll occasionally get a light rain shower – we’re talking 10mm across the whole month, so basically nothing – maybe one grey afternoon that clears up by evening. Don’t lose sleep over it.
Crowds are building but haven’t peaked yet. Italian families mostly travel in July and August, so June gives you this sweet spot where restaurants are fully open, beach clubs at Poetto are running properly, and you can actually get a table at a good seafood place without planning three days ahead. Weekends get busier, particularly the second half of the month, but it’s manageable. You’ll share the salt flats flamingo walk with other people, but you won’t be queuing for it.
Everything is open. This matters more than people realise with Sardinia – some smaller museums and archaeological sites run reduced hours or stay shuttered outside peak season. By June, the National Archaeological Museum is fully operational, the beaches are staffed, and the evening aperitivo scene along the marina is properly alive. Cagliari does late evenings beautifully once summer arrives.
**Who should go in June?** Couples, solo travellers, anyone who wants actual summer without the August chaos. Families with younger kids do fine here too. If you hate heat, maybe reconsider – it’s not brutal yet, but you’re not coming for mild temperatures either.
**One practical tip:** Book accommodation earlier than you think necessary. Cagliari has fewer hotel beds than you’d expect for a city its size, and the good mid-range options disappear weeks out, especially around the Stampace and Marina neighbourhoods where you actually want to be staying.
It’s worth it. Honestly, go.
