But here’s the part nobody warns you about: if you haven’t booked your Alhambra tickets two to three weeks in advance, you’re not getting in. The timed entry slots sell out brutally fast, and the queue of heartbroken tourists at the gate every single morning is genuinely sad to witness. Sort your tickets before you book your flights. Non-negotiable.
## Where Granada Actually Wins
The free tapas situation is real and it’s wonderful. Order a beer or a glass of wine and food just arrives — sometimes a small plate of cheese, sometimes something surprisingly substantial. Budget travellers can eat very decently here without really trying.
The Albaicín neighbourhood is the other genuine highlight.
