Here’s the thing about Krk in October – it’s either going to be your favourite trip or a slightly damp disappointment, depending entirely on what you’re after.

The weather sits around 15 degrees, which sounds fine until you factor in the bura wind that occasionally tears down from the mountains with genuinely unpleasant enthusiasm. Some days are absolutely gorgeous – that clear Adriatic light, golden hills, a jacket-weather stroll along the harbour. The island’s interior is stunning in autumn colours, olive harvest season brings a nice agricultural energy, and you can walk coastal paths that would be miserable in August heat. The sea temperature is still around 18-19 degrees if you’re genuinely committed to swimming, though you’ll probably be alone.

Is it worth it? For couples, slow travellers, hikers, or anyone who finds peak-season Adriatic tourism exhausting – honestly yes, it’s quite lovely. For families expecting beach holiday vibes or anyone wanting buzzing nightlife and open restaurants every night, wait until June.
