The surrounding scenery, pine forests dropping into the bay, is beautiful in that moody, slightly melancholy autumn way that photographs surprisingly well.

Is it worth it? That depends entirely on who you are. If you need a buzzing beach holiday with options every evening, absolutely not. If you want cheap accommodation, real quiet, decent walking weather, and the bones of a pretty place without the packaging, then yes, genuinely.

**Practical tip:** Book accommodation centrally near the old town rather than in the main resort strip. Half those hotels are closed anyway, and being near the bazaar puts you where actual life is happening during the quieter months.
