Visiting Petrovac in June

# Petrovac in June: Before the Madness Hits

June is genuinely one of the better times to visit Petrovac, and I’d argue it’s underrated compared to the peak summer chaos that descends in July and August.

The weather is warm but not punishing. You’re typically looking at mid-to-high twenties Celsius, maybe nudging 28 or 29 on good days. The Adriatic has warmed up enough to actually swim in comfortably, which isn’t always true in May when it can still feel shockingly cold. That said, June in Montenegro isn’t guaranteed sunshine. You can get overcast days and occasional rain, particularly in early June when the tail end of spring weather lingers. It’s not monsoon territory, but pack a light layer and don’t assume every single day will be perfect beach weather.

Crowds are manageable, especially before mid-June. Petrovac is a small town, and even moderate visitor numbers change its character noticeably, so timing matters here more than somewhere larger. Early June feels almost local still. By late June you’ll see more tourists, prices start climbing toward peak rates, and the beach gets noticeably busier on weekends. You’re in a transitional period rather than either extreme.

Everything worth visiting is open. Restaurants, bars, boat trips along the coast, the olive grove walk, the little beach bars by the Kastio fortress ruins. You won’t arrive to find things shuttered like you might risk in April or early May.

Is it worth coming in June? Honestly, yes, particularly if you’re someone who hates crowds but still wants a functioning holiday rather than a ghost town experience. It suits couples, people working remotely for a week, and anyone who finds August beach resorts genuinely stressful. Families with school-age children obviously can’t usually manage it, which is partly why it stays quieter.

**Practical tip:** Book accommodation early anyway. Petrovac has limited good options and the better apartments and small guesthouses fill up faster than you’d expect for a relatively quiet month. Don’t assume availability will be fine because it’s not peak season.
