Let me be straight with you. Santorini in November is a completely different island to the one plastered across your Instagram feed, and whether that’s a good or bad thing depends entirely on what you’re after.

The weather sits around 14°C, which sounds reasonable until you’re standing on a clifftop in Oia with wind cutting straight off the Aegean. Pack layers you actually mean it. You’ll get roughly 60mm of rain across the month, usually arriving in moody bursts rather than constant drizzle. Some days are genuinely gorgeous, crisp and golden. Others feel like the island is trying to get rid of you.

Here’s what November actually looks like on the ground: quiet. Genuinely, almost eerily quiet. The famous Oia sunset spot that hosts actual shoving matches in August? You might share it with a handful of people. The caldera views are yours to absorb properly. This is the real appeal, and it’s considerable.

The catch is that Santorini essentially hibernates in November. A significant chunk of restaurants, hotels, and shops are closed or closing mid-month. Is it worth going? For couples who’ve already done the summer version and want something contemplative, absolutely yes. For first-timers expecting the full Mediterranean fantasy, honestly consider May or October instead – you’ll get warmth and manageable crowds without November’s closures.

For solo travellers who like having space to actually think, November Santorini is quietly wonderful.

**Practical tip:** Call or email accommodation directly before booking. Confirm they’re actually open the specific dates you’re visiting. Discovering your hotel closed two weeks earlier isn’t a fun arrival surprise.
