The Lycian Way is spectacular in cooler temperatures with fewer people, and the ancient ruins scattered around the hills feel properly atmospheric under moody winter light. The town’s independent restaurants and bars that do stay open tend to have real character.

Is it worth visiting in December? For budget travellers, slow travellers, or anyone who actively enjoys off-season melancholy with a beautiful backdrop, genuinely yes. For families with children or people wanting the full Mediterranean activity package, wait until April.
